Frequently Asked Questions

What does an EV charging station do?

An EV charging station supplies electricity to recharge the battery of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. It manages the flow of power safely, measures how much energy is delivered, and — on a networked charger like ours — handles payment and reports usage.

What is the difference between AC and DC charging?

AC chargers send alternating current to the car, and the car's onboard charger converts it to DC for the battery. They suit sites where cars stay parked for an hour or more, such as offices, apartments and hospitality. DC fast chargers do the conversion inside the charger and feed the battery directly, adding range far faster. They suit retail, highway and high-turnover sites.

What are the different types of charging stations?

There are three common types. Level 1 is a standard household power point and is slow. Level 2 (AC) chargers, such as our 22kW G Charge and G Charge+, are the standard for homes, apartments and workplaces. DC fast chargers deliver much higher power and suit sites where drivers stop for a shorter time.

Where do charging stations get their power?

Most chargers draw from the site's existing electricity supply through the main switchboard. Many sites also pair chargers with rooftop solar or batteries. Our load management balances chargers against the building's other demand, so EV charging doesn't overload the supply or trigger expensive network upgrades.

If the business would rather keep the G Charge+ FAQ answers (compatibility, scalability, support), the simpler fix is to copy that page's four questions over here as well, so each answer sits under its own question.
